About Bucket Park

Bucket Park is a social, multiplayer VR game I have been planning development for since June/July of 2025. I am NOT developing this in response to Rec Room shutting down their game. I want to use this project as a learning experience and portfolio piece to see how multiplayer/networking works behind the scenes and how it can influence game design.

I have an incredibly specific vision for what I want the game to be; I'd like for it to be its own thing instead of just a Rec Room clone. For more information, watch the first devlog I made for the game!

Frequently Asked Questions

Wow, this seems like a really ambitious project to take on. Are you sure you won't get burnt out during development?

I don't know, but I wanna try anyway. Even if I do end up quitting, this will still be a great learning experience.

Who's helping you with this?

Some people I've talked to online agreed to help with some aspects of the game, such as the soundtrack. I'd also like to get my real-life friends involved to some capacity.

Can I help?

Likely not, sorry. I'm using this game as a learning experience and portfolio project, and I don't want people just doing everything for me.

How are you monetizing this?

I already have my plans for monetization written down, but I'm saving the specifics for later. Just know that the game isn't going to be free.

What platforms will Bucket Park be available on?

Mostly likely SteamVR only; primarily as a way of preventing people under 13 from playing the game.

When is development starting?

Whenever I get my hands on the Steam Frame, which is hopefully coming out in the first half of 2026. If all goes wrong, I'll just start with my crusty dusty Quest 2.

How long will development take?

My estimate is around two years, but it could very well take longer or shorter.

What are your plans for UGC (User Generated Content)?

I'd like for players to be able to customize themselves and their personal space, but absolutely nothing in the vein of custom avatars/games, like VRChat.

Who is this otter dude I'm seeing everywhere?

That's Frank, the mascot of Bucket Park. Otters are naturally very social animals, so making one represent the game would fit great (they're also my favorite animal).

Need Anything Else?

I have a Discord server up for my YouTube channel, as well as Bucket Park for anyone to join and chat in. If you have any more questions regarding Bucket Park or would like to get in contact with me, join the server through the button below.
